It’s nearly time for Halloween in Devon!

There are plenty of fantastic events throughout the county this spooky season.

So whether you’re on holiday in Devon this October half term or live in the county, here’s everything that’s going on!

The Abbey After Dark at Torre Abbey

This Halloween, Torre Abbey transforms into a chillingly fun experience with The Abbey After Dark.

Explore the Abbey gardens after dark, where illuminations, projections, and a spooky Halloween trail are hosted.

Pumpkin Festival at Pennywell Farm

  • Ticket information: Tickets available online or on-site, with some activities having a small additional charge

The Pennywell Farm Pumpkin Festival is back, and it’s bigger and better for 2024!

Included in the general admission ticket is access to the Pumpkin Patch, where you can pick out your perfect pumpkin, and enjoy the fabulously fun Pumpkin Trail, filled with challenges and activities.

For the little ones, Paddy the Pumpkin’s games and the Scarecrow Dress-Up Competition will keep them entertained, while families can hunt for the elusive Golden Pumpkin or spot pumpkins along the Rainbow Railway.

During weekends and the October half-term, enjoy live music and marshmallow toasting (a small extra charge applies for toasting).

Visitors can enjoy all of Pennywell Farm’s animal activities, including piggy cuddles, goat feeding, pony pampering, and even cheering on the racing pigs.

Get ready for a FANG-tastic evening at Dartmoor Zoo as Boo at the Zoo returns.

For two nights only, the zoo opens its gates after dark for a spook-filled evening of shock horrors, hair-raising encounters and nail-biting frights!

Explore the zoo by night, but beware of rustling leaves and peeping eyes—you’ll encounter strange and spooky characters along the way.

While the event is family-friendly, certain areas will be marked as more suitable for older children and adults.

Tickets are limited and must be booked in advance.

Halloween Half-Term at The Big Sheep

Celebrate Halloween at The Big Sheep this half-term!

The park will be packed with spooky attractions and family-friendly fun. Here, you can enjoy a wide variety of activities including:

This Halloween, Watermouth Castle will host a series of events, including spooky quests, treasure hunts and a brand-new scare attraction, Descend into Darkness, with tickets starting at £25 per person.

Get ready for a spooky adventure at Seaton Tramway this Halloween with two family-friendly events.

The Halloween Hunt invites kids to track down escaped ghouls hiding around the stations and trams. Children can complete the free activity sheet to earn a sweet treat – tram tickets may be needed to visit all locations.

The Trick or Treat Tram is led by Jack O’Lantern with interactive storytelling – it’s a fun and spooky journey that includes a meet-and-greet with Grizelda, the not-so-wicked witch, and a costume competition for kids! It’s a lighthearted ride with no jump scares.

Spaces are limited for the Trick or Treat Tram, so book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Get ready for a batty Halloween at Kents Cavern this half-term.

The prehistoric caves will host a series of fun and bat-themed activities suitable for families, all included in the price of a Cave Tour ticket!

Kids can unleash their creativity by making egg-box bats. Or you could take on the Bat Challenge and find missing words on a bat fact sheet while exploring the woodland trail.

Here, you’ll discover 17 species of UK-native bats!

Inside the cave, the Pumpkin Hunt dares you to find hidden pumpkins in unusual shapes. In the visitor centre, try to Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin to enter a draw for a chance to win four annual memberships to Kents Cavern.
