Flash mob in Bristol IKEA store by Rumble in the Jungle

Bristol’s no stranger to music events – it’s home to the fantastic Love Saves the Day and a range of other events throughout the year.

But last week, the Bristol IKEA store became the stage!

Last Thursday, just after 6 p.m., a group of 80 people transformed the Eastgate store showroom into a dance floor!

They orchestrated a flash mob that has since become the talk of the town (along with the mysterious plaque in Clifton).

Rumble in the Jungle

The masterminds behind this audacious act, Rumble in the Jungle in collaboration with Twelve34 Productions, meticulously planned the 20-minute DJ set to serve as a promotional stunt for their forthcoming event, The Underground on May 4th.

The organizers infiltrated the Swedish furniture giant, posing as employees with custom-printed t-shirts. They were accompanied by a two-man film crew, which nobody seemed to spot!

It was flawless!

Jack Cottle, the director of Rumble in the Jungle, described the flash mob as a “flawless” execution that brought an “epic” atmosphere to the unsuspecting location.

The success of the Ikea flash mob is just the beginning, according to the organisers.

With The Underground event on the horizon, featuring drum and bass heavyweights like Alcemist, Skepsis, and P Money, the Bristol music scene is poised for a significant shake-up!

While specifics about future plans remain tightly under wraps, Cottle’s enthusiasm suggests that Bristol should brace itself for more innovative and surprising events. “No spoilers here, but 100 percent keep your eyes open,” he teases, hinting at the creative endeavors that lie ahead.

The first-of-its-kind event at The Galleries promises to be a milestone for the genre in the city, and if the Ikea flash mob is anything to go by, attendees can expect an unforgettable time!
