Stay HERE for the best views in Newquay đź‘€

The last rays of summer sunshine were illuminating the Atlantic Ocean as we drove by Fistral Beach.

“We should be somewhere around here…” my partner Richard, who was keeping an eye on the Sat Nav, told me while I turned the car left.

The words OCEANSIDE HOTEL glimmered above us as we parked the car. Behind us was the white sands of Fistral and ultiamtely, the bright blue sea.

About Oceanside Hotel

Oceanside Hotel is a new boutique guesthouse in the Fistral area of Newquay.

Downstairs sits a restaurant, well-stocked bar (with plenty of Cornish drinks!), patio with firepits and a breakfast area.

Upstairs, a collection of guestrooms with far-reaching views over the edge of the coastal town.

The room

We were allocated a room on the second floor (which was at the top of the building). While the hotel had clearly been renovated from the hallways, the room itself was tastefully decorated with blue wood panelling, matching blue and gold cushions and blue towels.

Two chairs sat in the centre of the room, a coffee table with magazines in the middle, and at the end there was a wardrobe and dressing table with cooking facilities. In the gleaming white bathroom, we found a modern, powerful shower over a bathtub.

But of course, the piece de resistance of the room is its huge windows overlooking the iconic Fistral Beach.

One of the best beaches in Cornwall, this sandy shore is renowned for its surf, but it’s also one of the most beautiful places to hang out in Newquay!

The bar

We didn’t eat at the restaurant (we headed to Boathouse instead), but bought a decidedly Cornish Tarquins and tonic (Tarquins is a Cornish gin – you can actually visit the distillery, see here for more!) and Korev (Cornish beer) and stepped onto the patio.

With the sound of the ocean in the background, we sipped our drinks and toasted to an exciting couple of days in Newquay. After a few moments, a table with a firepit in the middle became available – the September sun had been warm, but after sunset it was getting chilly – so we warmed our hands here as we enjoyed our drinks.

The breakfast

The next morning, after a lay in our gloriously comfortable bed, we headed down to the breakfast room.

A contiental buffet was served at the end of the room, with a menu promising dishes like eggs benedict, full English and a vegan breakfast. Porridge was also available (I ordered it with oat milk on the second day), and the staff were happy to make me an oat cappucino using the barista coffee machine in the restaurant.

The location

Oceanside Hotel sits just steps from Fistral Beach (see my full guide to the beach here), but it’s also in an ideal location for the rest of the town. Newquay Harbour is just a 10 minute walk away, and you’ll find Towan Beach around 15 minutes. The station and Great Western Beach is about 20 minutes on foot.

If you’re driving, there isn’t a free car park – you’ll need to grab a permit from the hotel to park at the public car park at the back of the hotel, which is at a cost of ÂŁ5 per day .

Your ideal stay on Fistral Beach!

Oceanside Hotel has one of the best views in town and if yo’ure looking for a chilled out place to stay with surfing vibes just steps from Fistral, it’s definitely one to check out!
