Four South West fish and chip restaurants in UK’s top 10 🍟🐟

The Fry Awards have revealed their latest rankings for fish and chip restaurants across the UK and four South West venues are in the national top ten!

The list covers the whole UK and is based on anonymous judging carried out over several months.

Judges assess food quality, cleanliness, staff knowledge, consistency and value.

Only venues scoring at least 96 percent are recognised, making inclusion a strong marker of long-term standards rather than a one-off good review.

The South West restaurants in the UK top 10 ⭐

🐟 Harbour Lights, Falmouth (Cornwall)

Located close to Falmouth’s harbour, Harbour Lights has a takeaway kiosk and serves traditional and vegetarian fish and chips (made with tofu!). I also once got a battered Creme Egg from here! I love getting fish and chips and going to The Front bar nearby to eat them (they allow you to bring food in).

🍽️ Pier Point Bar and Restaurant, Torquay (Devon)

Set directly on the seafront, Pier Point has become a well-established name in Torquay, both for its restaurant and takeaway. It’s not somewhere I’ve visited personally, but I’ll be sure to look out for it next time I’m in Torquay!

🍟 Seasmiths Fish and Chips in Town, Wadebridge, Cornwall

This renovated chippie is now a swanky restaurant just moments from the Camel Trail. They serve sustainably-caught cod, haddock and hake alongside sausages and veggie options!

Fish and chip takeaways in top 50

As well as the top 10 fish and chip restaurants, Fry Magazine also listed a top 50 fish and chips takeaways.

The entries in the South West were:

  • The Proper Fish and Chips Co – Honiton, Devon
  • Callaway’s Fish & Chips – Dorchester, Dorset
  • David’s Fish & Chips – Brixham, Devon
  • Fish N Fry – Easton, Bristol
  • Greg & Lou’s – Redruth, Cornwall
  • The Oyster Shell – Bath, Somerset
